If your return contains Form 1099-NEC and you are seeing this error message:
The IRS payee instructions for the Form 1099-NEC say to report income from a Form 1099-NEC on Schedule C or F (Form 1040) if a sole proprietor. If you entered one or more Form 1099-NEC in your account, but did not include them on a Schedule C or Schedule F, you must edit your return to remove the Form 1099-NEC or link it to a Schedule C Profit or Loss from Business or Schedule F Profit or Loss From Farming. Please be aware that when you link the 1099-NEC income to a Schedule C or Schedule F, you should not re-enter the income on the Schedule as this may cause your gross income to double.
How to correct this error message:
You will need to add a Schedule C or Schedule F. On the Schedule C or F page, scroll down to the Income-1099 NEC Amounts section. Check off the check box in the Form 1099-NEC Amounts section to link the income and resolve your error.
This checkbox alleviates the need to re-enter the income already reported on Form 1099-NEC by linking the amount to the Schedule C or F.
